Credit card Fraud roundtable 2010 NATB Trade Show-additional points and tip

Hi,

Thanks so much for attending the July 17 3:45-5:00PM Roundtable discussion on credit card fraud. I did have some additional thoughts after some of you stopped by my booth after the discussion. Also attached is a cc author5zation form if you need one for your files.

If your current credit card processor does not get you a favorable result in a chargeback dispute

-you do have further rights. Make sure they follow up with a Prearbitration and if you lose that you can still go to Arbitration if the amount of the chargeback warrants it.

-some attendees mentioned that they have POS systems that aren’t showing them if AVS and /or CVV match. You can still see this info if you login directly into the gateway. You will need your login info & password. If you don’t have them call your POS provider and ask them to give you that info.

-if you have lost a chargeback (or even before) call the cardholder and tell them you will be filing a felony theft charge with the police. So far this has worked for my merchants very well. You should also tell them you are calling the security department of their credit card issuer. Most folks are terrifed of the embarrassment of having police come to their door and/or having their credit card cancelled.

-if all else fails for larger chargebacks I know a very effective man who was a supervisor for a large bank’s chargeback department. He has a photographic memory and intimidates most chargeback personnel he communicates with because of his superior knowledge of chargeback policies & procedures. His name is Bernard Klein of Transmedia 888-900-2001 http://tranmedia.com/
His email is bklein@tranmedia.com

If I can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me.

These days we are facing an economic crisis and need to prepare ourselves more effectively for the recovery – to discover opportunities, identify potential partners looking for opportunities, looking for a reason to hope. Now it’s a good idea to ask: how could my product/service provide opportunities in today’s economic climate?
